COVID 19 Update - Social Distancing
Hey, it’s April 9, 2020 and I write this because things are changing fast, so you might want to poke around and see if there’s newer information. I tried to write one big post with everything, and that isn’t working so I’ll post a series of articles instead.
Ross Corner Animal Wellness Center was designed with social distancing in mind. Waiting areas have several drawbacks, chief among them are privacy and safety. I designed this place without a waiting area in part to avoid the spread of communicable disease. I did not foresee a human plague, for sure. I was worried about healthy pets getting sick in a waiting area while sitting next to ill pets. I also envisioned this might help reduce the spread of colds and flu as a bonus.
We ask that when you arrive you call us 207-512-4166 from the parking lot to make sure we have space for you. We have two options for visits: come inside or curb-side.
Option 1: Come Inside
We’ll put most dogs on the scale and then put you in one of our spacious exam rooms and close the door. Please maintain, as much as possible, three floor tiles between you and an another person. Everything is going on fairly normally although we are using stronger disinfectants on everything these days (more on that later). We’re asking folks who can use steps to exit via the door to the left of the reception station.
Option 2: Curb-side
If you are ill or have reason to believe you might become ill, we ask you choose curb-side. Curbside is also available to anyone who wants it. We’ll come out and take your pet inside. One of our assistants will take a history over the phone and we’ll take care of your pet for you. Dr. Amanda will call to go over the exam with you. We can take payment over the phone or with Zelle. Please understand that we are just now learning how to do this, and we aren’t going to be very good at it until we figure everything out.
I have to say that being socially distant has made us socially awkward. I hope we can learn to deliver the warm personal service we take pride in while standing six feet apart.
